The German group WPD is preparing a wind farm of over 500 MW in Bucovina. The wind electricity production unit is thought to have an installed power of 528 MW, the site being located near the city of Siret, in Suceava county.

The project is currently in the phase prior to the granting of the technical approval for connection to the Transelectrica network, with the solution study being developed for this purpose. It is estimated that the wind farm will be completed and commissioned in less than 3 years, i.e. by March 1, 2027.

WPD also have other wind projects in Romania, in the counties of Iasi and Brăila. In the fall of 2022, WPD sold to the Americans from Global Infrastructure Partners the local companies established for the development of offshore wind energy production projects in Romania's territorial waters of the Black Sea.
