Elena Borcea, mother of former Dinamo Bucharest football team owner Cristian Borcea, and businessman Gheorghe Nețoiu, have received approval for a 102-apartment residential development on the site of the complex that also houses the famous "Doi Cocoși" restaurant in northern Bucharest.

Complex Turistic International Doi Cocoși, the company through which Borcea and Nețoiu own the restaurant, was recently given permission to demolish all seven buildings in the complex, with a built-up area of about 2,200 square metres. At the same time, the company has been authorised to build instead a residential complex with two basements, ground floor and 9 floors, the last 3 removed, comprising 102 apartments. The proposed new building will have a floor area of about 18,700 sqm and will occupy about half of the site.
