Orlen Unipetrol Group will buy the Brno-based companies Unis and Unis Power through its subsidiary Orlen Projekt ČR. They are engaged in design and engineering services. The acquisition, which is expected to be completed on 2 May, promises to make the group's management and investment more efficient. Orlen Unipetrol made the announcement yesterday. It did not specify the value of the transaction.

Both companies will be integrated into Orlen Projekt ČR, a subsidiary of Orlen Unipetrol. It is now headed by Tomasz Wiatrak, the chairman of the board of directors, who was dismissed by the new management of Polish parent group Orlen. His successor has not yet been chosen.

According to Orlen Projekt, the acquisition is a capitalization of the experience of cooperation from the past, when Unis and Unis Power participated in some of Orlen Unipetrol's investment projects as external contractors.
"As part of our gradual transformation into a multi-energy concern and the transition to a sustainable, emission-free future, we are making multi-billion dollar investments every year. The requirements for expert management of these large-scale investments are constantly growing. That is why we are now expanding the competence of our engineering and contracting company Orlen Projekt, said Maciej Romanów, member of the Management Board of Orlen Unipetrol Group.

Unis Group acts as a supplier of engineering and design services in the implementation of capital construction projects in the oil and gas processing, petrochemical, chemical and energy sectors. In the past it has been involved in more than 270 projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. According to Orlen Projekt CR, more than 130 Unis Group employees will also move on.

"This transaction is the logical outcome of our cooperation on projects for the Orlen Group. The teams know each other, so the transaction does not represent a major change in the work of the Unis team. On the contrary, it brings new challenges for participation in future technologies within the group," said Jiří Kovář, chairman of the Unis group.

Orlen Projekt ČR, which was established a year ago, provides design and engineering services to Orlen Unipetrol and Orlen Group companies. These companies are also joint owners of the company. In the past, Orlen Projekt also took over the engineering company Energa Invest from the Energa group and bought a majority stake in Energop.
