Ministry of National Defence (MON), the city of Lublin, Lubelskie and Lublin Airport have signed a letter of intent in connection with the planned location of the permanent helicopter air base of the Lądów Military at the Lublin Airport in Świdnik, said Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

“On Saturday I said that we will strengthen and build new units in Eastern Poland. After two days, there are already the effects of this commitment thanks to good cooperation between the government and local authorities," said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

“This moment is an important moment for several reasons, because it is a symbolic moment, but it is also a strategic moment, choosing an airport that will be a space and a place to take care of the security of our homeland. The helicopters of the Land Forces will be permanently stationed here, which we are modernizing. We also make new purchases. They will be here, which I firmly believe, to train military pilots. We will develop regionally the institutions and infrastructure. Here we can combine the safety function, tourist function and economic function," he added.

He informed that the base will be located over 100 ha, obtained in the agreement between the Ministry of National Defence and local government partners.
