Czech air traffic controller RLP sees 2023 profit grow 82 pct to CZK 320 million

The Czech Republic's state-run company Air Navigation Services (RLP) saw its profit rise by almost 82 percent to CZK 320 million last year, mainly thanks to higher revenues, which grew by 21 percent to almost CZK 4.4 billion, and strict monitoring of costs in important areas, CEO Jan Klas said on social network X.

After two years of losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company returned to positive territory in 2022, when it reported a profit of CZK 176 million. In 2019, the company's gross profit was CZK 238 million. The company thus managed to surpass its pre-COVID numbers last year.

According to Klas, revenues from commercial training activities (Czech Air Navigation Institute, CANI) amounted to CZK 95 million, and RLP's calibration squadron had revenues worth CZK 91 million.

"We managed to meet all our priorities, which is primarily safety and the necessary capacity in the airspace," Klas said in a video on the X network. This year, the company has prioritised digitisation, sustainability and more flexible service rendering, he added.

RLP was established on January 1, 1995. It offers public air traffic control services to users of Czech airspace and at airports in Prague - Ruzyne, Brno - Turany, Ostrava - Mosnov and Karlovy Vary. RLP has some 230 flight controllers.
