The investment group Odien is planning to transform the former Avia truck complex in Letnany – Prague into a new city district. The company's plans include the construction of houses, apartments, a school, sports facilities along with tram tracks and a train station. "We've been working on a change to the area since 2007 and I believe we're reaching the end and that by the end of this year we'll achieve a change to the master plan and will be able to begin," says Odien's owner Michael Saran. Construction, he predicted could begin within three years. He said Odien is not a classic developer, in that the company has owned the Avia complex since 2004 and that it intends to remain there. His goal is to develop the 66 hectare site and to connect the districts of Letnany and Cakovice. He's hired the architect Jakub Cigler to design the project, which includes the revitalization of the Cakovice train station. A total of 1,400 flats should be built in the first phase of construction, with completion of the accompanying schools and stores due by 2030. In all, Saran's planning four phases of construction, which could take up to 25 years to complete.
