A flagship Empik store will be established in the Warsaw Cepelia pavilion at the junction of Jerozolimskie Avenue and Marszałkowska Street, the company said. The opening is planned for the turn of the year. In addition, the company plans to open a total of 30 locations this year.

‘Warsaw has a special place in our more than 75-year history - it was here that we took our first steps, and today we are present in as many as several dozen diverse locations. This store, however, will be special - the state-of-the-art, flagship Empik in the historic Cepelia building will become a showcase for our brand. At the turn of the year, we will give customers as many as three floors for cultural exploration and daily shopping inspiration, but also a unique place to meet artists. All this in a desirable, friendly interior overlooking the city centre,’ - Empik Group CEO Ewa Szmidt said, quoted in the release.

Empik continues its dynamic expansion, both in large cities and small towns. Last year, the store chain expanded by a further 21 locations, including five in Warsaw, under the Empik and Papiernik by Empik banners.

‘We closed 2023 with more than 350 stores across Poland, and we plan to open another 30 locations this year alone. We are focusing strongly on densifying the network in order to reach places where there is no Empik yet, but in parallel we have been looking for a new flagship location in Warsaw's Śródmieście district for a long time. Given its space and retail purpose, as well as its cultural heritage and importance to Warsaw's history, the Cepelia building was a natural choice for us.’ - Retail operations director Łukasz Sitko added.

Empik is a leading multi-channel retailer and a leading e-commerce platform in Poland.
