Václav Havel International Airport in Prague's Ruzyně Airport has changed its parking system as of yesterday. The time for free passage through the express parking lots was reduced from the current 15 minutes to ten minutes once a day on May 1. Parking over ten minutes will be charged in 15-minute intervals instead of the previous half an hour. Available data shows that the majority of drivers leave the parking lot in just ten minutes. The change will affect a small number of customers, the airport announced.

"Thanks to the contactless payment method, you can now pay at all car parks directly at the exit. Free entry for ten minutes is available at express car parks once every 24 hours," the airport said on X network yesterday.

Until the end of April, the original 30 minutes of parking at express car parks P1 and P2 cost CZK 100. Now, drivers will be charged CZK 50 for a quarter hour of parking. For parking lasting less than one hour, drivers will not be charged more for parking with the change in the system.

All car parks at the airport will now have the option of paying directly at the exit stands. It will be possible to pay by contactless card. The barriers are now equipped with traffic lights and more accurate cameras for reading the registration plates. "So in case of free passage, the exit barriers will be raised automatically without you having to insert your parking ticket into the stand," informed Ruzyně Airport.

There are also new cameras in the parking houses, where cars will be admitted via a pre-announced number plate after prior reservation.

The PB Economy car park in front of the second terminal has become the third express car park with 70 new parking spaces, passengers can use it for arrivals to the second terminal. There is also a new waiting area for taxi service. This will be used by passengers who do not want to take the airport's official taxi service, Uber. The total number of spaces in all three express car parks will increase to 350. Short-term passengers can park in the PC comfort parking house with a price of 80 crowns per hour of parking.

The airport is also offering taxi drivers a pre-loaded Taxi Card to replace the existing value cards. According to the airport, the card is meant to offer discounted parking fares to non-Uber taxi drivers who follow the set rules at the airport.
