The energy company ČEZ warns against fraudulent Internet advertisements that misuse its name and lure allegedly profitable investments. The videos look very convincing. They use footage from official events and TV broadcasts and use artificial intelligence to edit them and to coax new texts. Thousands of these fake ads have already been taken down by CEZ, but new ones keep appearing, according to the company's spokeswoman Alice Horáková.

The fake ads promise tens of thousands of dollars in revenue through a non-existent "ČEZ financial app". Mostly they link to external sites that invite users to register. But the company points out that it has never developed any investment tools or apps, nor has it ever invited people to buy its shares.

"CEZ therefore once again strongly urges anyone who encounters such advertising to ignore the calls to register and not to enter any personal or payment information. Otherwise, people risk losing their savings," the company said. The ads appear on Facebook and YouTube, for example. ČEZ is negotiating with these internet platforms to remove the ads. "Unfortunately, this is a long run because their creators are practically untraceable," the spokeswoman said. The company also warns against fraud on its website.

The president's office also warned the public about similar scams last year. The advertisements repeatedly misused the photograph of President Petr Pavel. In a statement, the Castle stressed that it had nothing to do with this deceptive and fraudulent advertising and called for increased caution.
