Carrefour Polska has signed 52 new lease agreements and extended 170 contracts with existing tenants in its managed shopping centres in 2023, Carrefour Polska said. This allowed to secure for the next years a total of approx. 37,000 sq m of GLA.

“Carrefour manages, among others, in Poland, more than 20 large shopping centers with a total area of 230,000 sq m GLA. In 2023, the network signed as many as 52 new lease agreements for a total area of over 7000 sq m of GLA and extended 170 contracts with existing tenants. This allowed the brand to secure for the next years, a total of approx. 37 000 sq m GLA, as well as maintain low levels of vacancy. At the end of 2023, it amounted to 1.7% in the entire network portfolio, well below the market average of 2.6%.

Over the past year, 17 new brands have also appeared in Carrefour shopping centres. Among the key tenants were, among others. New Yorker, Okaidi and the Tutti Santi chain restaurant. The network also carried out a process of re-commercialization of selected objects, as well as their local reconstructions and modernizations. In 2023, the gastronomic zone in Galeria Grudziądzka was opened, in Galeria Zdrój in Jastrzębi-Zdrój, the first Douglas perfumery in the city appeared, in Galeria Zielone Wzgóra in Białystok, 3 new stores were opened: Venezia, Unisono and Big Star, and in the Slavic Gallery in Zgorzelec: Big Star, Reserved Kids and Monnari, as well as the shop.

“Despite the many market challenges we faced as a network in 2023, it has proved very good for our shopping malls. During the past 12 months, shopping centres belonging to Carrefour Polska not only maintained their position, but also often built an advantage over local competition. Thanks to well-established locations and constantly improved commercial, service and entertainment offer, we increase our visitability rates and reduce the level of vacancies. At the end of 2023, it achieved a record-low 1.7% in our portfolio. This proves, on the one hand, the trust that our tenants give us, and on the other hand, that our offer is still very attractive to local customers," said the Director of Galeria Handlowy Carrefour Polska Ewa Karska.

Carrefour Polska is an ermust-headed retail chain, under the name of which there are over 900 stores in Poland in 6 formats: hypermarkets, supermarkets, wholesale and discount stores, housing and specialist stores and an online store.
