Sensirion is planning to open a new production facility in Debrecen. Construction of the BTS hall, which is being financed and developed by a local partner, is expected to take 12 months, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of next year. The Swiss sensor technology company signed a long-term lease for the site, which will handle the market’s growing demand for sensors. The facility will employ 50 people to start, with Sensirion anticipating jobs will increase fourfold by 2025. The project is being supported by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) and the Debrecen Urban and Economic Development Center (EDC). Patrick Good, a director at Sensirion, said Debrecen was chosen for a combination of factors including its educational facilities such as the University of Debrecen and the vocational training institutions, and its established industrial base.
