The Ostrava-based IT company Okin BPS is firing 600 employees, according to the daily Denik.cz. The company has provided IT outsourcing for the American telecom Verizon for several years, but it's being reported that the company has cancelled the contract and is moving those activities out of Europe. Denik.cz claims that all of the employees working in Okin's space in the Nordica office building have been fired. In all, Okin BPS employs 1,200 people. The server Lupa.cz writes that it opened an office in the Texas in 2018, the same year it signed a three-year contract with Verizon. But it also notes that Okin BPS has been getting poor reviews recently from online sites tracking employee satisfaction, suggesting that not all IT companies have managed the HR issues brought about by the coronavirus crisis. Oking BPS also leases space in the Orchard office complex.
