Austria's Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) announced that subsidies for electric cars would be increased. From July 1st, they will receive € 5,000 for purchasing of an electric car. Previously, the amount consumers received from the government was just €3,000. In addition to cars, two-wheel vehicles and the expansion of private charging stations are also being promoted to a greater degree. The government is planning to offer € 1.200 for the purchase of electric motorcycles (€200 more than before) and €800 for electric mopeds, an increase of €100. In the future there will also be €600 available for home charging stations made available, a significant increase from the €200 originally on offer.
