The World Bank will open an outsourced shared service center in Sofia this July. Over the next five years, the bank intends to hire a total of 275 people to staff the center, which will eventually oversee IT operations and financial and administrative services. The project has the backing of the Bulgarian government. Bulgaria was chosen to host the center for a number of key reasons, including its strategic location and solid infrastructure as well as its stable political and economic environment. The country’s highly skilled labor market was also taken under consideration.
