The beginning of construction of Prague's fourth metro line, the D line, could begin as early as this summer. It's encouraging news for pessimists who have come to doubt the city's ability to carry out large investments, possibly indicating that the new administration is serious about achieving its goals. Mayor Zdeněk Hřib said that a geological study could get underway within two months and that the tunnels built in that process would be used during the construction of the actual metro line. The D line will connect Pankrác in Prague 4 with the suburb Pisnice. The key that appears to have unlocked the path to progress is an agreement reached earlier this week between the city and land owners around the planned station Nádraží Krč. In addition, writes Denik.cz, the Arkady Pankrac shopping center retracted a suit against the new metro line last week. Remarkably, the city's opposition parties are supporting the current city administration in the project. "Metro D is a priority for Prague residents and for the whole city's transportation system," said ODS city deputy Tomáš Portlik.
