The unemployment rate in Hungary jumped to 4.1 percent between March and May, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). The increase was largely linked to the coronavirus pandemic. The number of unemployed men between the ages of 15 and 74 grew to 104,000, while the number of unemployed women increased to 86,000 during the three-month period. The unemployment volume averaged 215,000 in May, with the rate hitting 4.7 percent, up by 1.2 percent y-o-y and by 0.6 percent from the previous month, according to the KSH data.
