Despite the ongoing military conflict, Ukraine signed a contract to buy gas from Russia at a reduced rate for the next three months. Under the deal, Ukraine will pay $248 per 1,000 cubic meters, down from $329 it paid in Q1, reports the BBC. The country will still be required pre-pay Russia for its gas. Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state-run gas company, is hoping to hash out a permanent solution over pricing with the Russian gas giant Gazprom. Russia had been threatening to shut off Ukraine’s gas over unpaid bills.
