The former Stock Exchange Palace, a historic heritage building located in the heart of Bucharest’s historical center, has entered into a full process of commercial redevelopment.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century at the suggestion of King Carol I, the building was the headquarters of the Stock Exchange during the interwar period and afterwards the headquarters of the National Library of Romania. In 2008, the building was returned to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest.

The building is located at the junction of Doamnei and Ion Ghica streets, as part of an effervescent area with significant real-estate potential, across of the National Bank of Romania and the new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel opened last year also in an historical building that was refurbished and extended.

Activ Property Services, member of GVA Worldwide and the exclusive agent of the project, has provided letting services for all the available spaces afterwards the Chamber of Commerce has occupied the 2nd floor and part of the building’s 3rd floor.

The retail spaces located at the building’s ground floor have been leased Toan's Vietnamese restaurant chain (134 sq m), La Vita e Velo (104 sq m) bicycle retailer specialized in top English brands, along with Forma Art Café (150 sq m). All units are already fit-out and expect opening soon.

The 1st floor’s west wing, having 1,000 sq m, is used by NF Palace Old City Bucharest, a local operator's hotel that runs also other locations in the Historical Center.

The last unit from the 3rd floor is occupied by the architecture office of Metropolis.
"We are honored that we were part of the team to assist the commercial redevelopment of the former Stock Exchange Palace, helping the project to reach full occupancy in short time. All transactions closed successfully, the new occupiers being delighted by the opportunities to be part of the project.

The building of Bucharest’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a strategic position as part of the Historic Center, frequented by both locals and foreign tourists, which provides the new tenants with a major flow of potential customers." says Valentin Manu, Head of Retail at Activ Property Services.
