Elon Musk has squashed rumors that his company Tesla's planned new battery factory could be built in the Czech Republic. "Germany is a leading choice for Europe," Musk tweeted. "Perhaps on the German-French border makes sense, near the Benelux countries." The Czech connection was being peddled by those who speculated that the existence of large supplies of lithium in the Krušné mountains would make a factory north of Prague a smart choice. Tesla already has activities in Germany near the Belgian border in the town of Prum, which is home to an engineering company that specializes in automatic production systems. Expertise, in other words, is more important than raw materials.
