Online commerce is not having a negative impact on demand for retail space in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia. In fact, writes Colliers International in its most recent report, the 21,900 sqm leased over the first half of this year was the highest result since 2015. Among the brands taking new space were food chains like Billa, Lidl, Kaufland as well as dm drugstore and JYSK. Polish-based Pepco opened new stores in nine cities while nine brands made their debut, including Fjallraven, J.Wargas, Steve Madden, Ximivogue and Zara Home. The total stock of retail space in Sofia as of the end of June was 390,660sqm. Rents rose just 1 percent during the first half of 2019 along Sofia's main shopping street Blvd. Vitosha
