The city of Střibro has thrown its support behind a project by the Accolade group to build a facility for the road testing of self-driving automobiles. Accolade has had its request for a change to the town's master plan approved by 13 of a total of 14 city councilors. Accolade is working with Czech technical universities on the project and claims that it's already registered interest from the Center for Applied Research at the University of Nevada from a variety of auotmobile components suppliers. "Once the facility is in operation, it will attract top notch automobile researches from around Europe and many university trained graduates will find employment with them," said Accolade's CEO Milan Kratina. "The development of automobiles that drive themselves is one of the most complex IT and engineering problems that the world is solving today. We have to be part of its solution if the research and development of state-of-the art automobiles is to coninue in the Czech Republic."
