State distributes CZK 21 billion in Covid-19 support to small businesses and entrepreneurs

Czech financial officials received 917,000 applications for support from self-employed people and another 79,000 applications from small companies whose business was negatively impacted by the the Covid-19 pandemic. Almost all of the applications have been dealt with now and CZK 21.8 billion in support has been distributed. The two groups were allowed to request CZK 500 per day for the period between March 12 and June 29. The support is being classified as a tax refund. The entire operation was a test of the state's ability to function remotely, as the applications were accepted by email and through the state's digital "databox" system.
