In an effort to attract a strategic investor to the capital, the Bulgarian government is planning to develop four industrial zones in Sofia. A large industrial zone will cover the northern regions of Kremikovtsi, Novi Iskar and Vrabnitsa, while small ones will be located in the city’s Mladost, Nadezhda and Ovcha Kupel areas. Sofia attracts 54 percent of all investments in Bulgaria and produces 40 percent of the country’s GDP, according to the Market Economy Institute. The IT sector and outsourcing of business services has seen the most growth in Sofia in recent years, said the city’s mayor, Yordanka Fandakova.
