Slovenia has secured a €250m loan from the European Investment Bank to help finance construction of the Koper-Divaca railway. The project, led by the state-run 2TDK, is valued at €1.2bn. It is the largest logistics project to go up in Slovenia in the last 10 years. In addition to the EIB loan, the Slovenian government will also seek funding from commercial banks and European grants. Construction is expected to take six years to complete. The 27 km railway line will include eight tunnels, two bridges, two viaducts and one gallery.
