Skanska USA wins $113m order for Boston College rec center
Skanska USA has won a $113 million tender to provide construction services to create Boston College’s (BC) new 4-story, 244,000 square foot Recreation Center. Once completed in summer 2019, the center will be used for the school’s intercollegiate, intramural and club sports programs. The facility will house a fitness center, jogging track, natatorium with lap and instructional pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, multi-activity courts and multi-purpose rooms for spin, yoga and fitness classes. Construction of the building, which will replace the Flynn Recreation Complex, is underway at the former site of Edmond’s Hall on Thomas More Road.
“Boston College is well-known for its impressive sports as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and we are proud to partner with them in delivering an outstanding recreation center that will provide students with a prime venue for fitness and athletic training,” said Kerim Evin, General Manager of Skanska’s building operations in New England. “It is our mission to build this essential facility in the safest and most efficient manner, while respecting students, faculty and staff throughout the process.”
