The construction industry could help prop up the Slovenian economy, says the director of the Construction Chamber at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. Joze Renar called on public officials to work with the private sector to allow construction work to move forward in Slovenia wherever possible.
He claims that if proper safety measures are respected for workers, the ability to allow investments to continue could help buffer what's clearly going to be an enormous economic blow to the nation. Responsible companies could set in place procedures under which the intensity of work would be reduced and communications would be made at safe distances. Renar also proposed strict controls be placed at the entrances to construction sites and that the supply and distribution of food be tightly monitored. Slovenia's construction sector employs 65,000 people.
