Q4 Bulgarian construction permits up 14%

Bulgarian authorities issued 1,477 building permits in Q4 2018 for projects that would result in the construction of 1,457,570 sqm. Of the total, 33 were for new office buildings totalling 224,417 sqm of new space, according to the National Statistics Institute. The total figure is 14 percent higher than it was for the last quarter of 2017, while it's 10 percent up for the office sector. The cities set to see the most construction work are Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Burgas. Compared with 2017, the NSI reports an increase in residential building activity.
