Prague's new administration appears determined to convince residents of the Czech capital that it will succeed in completing long-delayed, but desperately needed infrastructure projects. First it announced that construction on the city's fourth metro line should get underway by the summer. Now it's taken things one step further by demanding that the metro's architects Metroprojekt work together with an external team of designers to beautify the new stations with new graphic elements. The fear is that the new stations will be as ruthlessly soulless and devoid of character as the ones the company designed previously. "I would welcome whatever can be done to help us avoid the shame that's embodied in the new stations along the A line," said deputy mayor Petra Kolínská. The popular architect David Vavra has been called upon to oversee the design of signage that will be installed at the entrances of all the new stations.
