Portuguese imports and exports fall for fourth consecutive month

Portuguese exports and imports fell 10.1% and 23.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. This is a slight improvement compared to the values recorded in May, when there were decreases of 38.7% and 39.8%. Still, it is the fourth consecutive month of negative year-on-year changes. The Portuguese trade balance deficit stood at €828 million in June, a decrease of € 1.049 million compared to the same period in 2019. Excluding fuels and lubricants, exports and imports decreased by 7.6% and 17.2%, respectivelyan improvement from the 34.8% and 34.7% drops registered in May. The country's trade balance excluding these items came in at a deficit of €665 million.
