Tourists from Britain are the main source of tourism for Portugal. That's what's behind Portugal's initiation of negotiations for a safe air corridor, which would enable British visitors to avoid having to quarantine themselves upon returning home from the country. Portugal fears what the impact on tourist numbers will be following a decision by the U.K. to force anyone entering the country (including U.K. citizens) to self-isolate for two weeks. The country's all-important tourist sector has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, prompting the government to try all possible measures to save at least some of the summer season.
