The discount retailer Pepco has chosen a location in Gyal, Hungary, as its regional logistic center in a HUF 27.2bn investment. The Hungarian government has agreed to provide HUF 1.9bn to support the project, which involves the construction of a 100,000 sqm warehouse. Pepco plans to supply its regional operations from the facility because of its central location and strong accessibility. Pepco maintains 140 stores in Hungary and another 500 in Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia. The new logistic center is expected to employ 400 within a year and up to 1,000 in time. Pepco employs around 16,000 across CEE and the Baltics.
