New terminals to built in the Port of Bar by 2025

Next year, new container terminals will be built in the Port of Bar, according to the government's strategy for developing its maritime economy. The government's plan is to complete work on the new terminals be complete by 2025 on the basis of concessions and private-public partnership. With the construction of a new container terminal, Montenegro would open itself up to new trade opportunities from Asia.

Shares in the former container terminals, which were separated from the Port of Bar, were bought seven years ago by the Turkish company Global Ports. At the time, Global Ports pledged to realize investments in the restructuring of the container terminal, worth €13.5 million, within three years.
