A new 20 MW solar plant opened a few kilometers from Hungary’s nuclear power plant just outside of Paks. The solar plant, worth HUF 9bn, will power 8,500 households. MVM Group financed 65 percent of the project and secured EU funding to cover the remaining costs. At the officially opening this week, Peter Kaderjak, secretary of state for energy and climate policy at Hungary’s ministry of innovation and technology said the new solar plant would help make Paks a leader not just in nuclear power production but also in renewable energies.
