Slovenia’s largest retailer Mercator is opening its first store without employees. The company previously introduced a concept where customers could scan and pay for their products and services by using cards. “We are developing exciting solutions. Following the model from overseas, we will soon establish a test pop-up shop where you can shop without the presence of a vendor,” said Kristina Gregorc, assistant to Mercator president Tomislav Cizmic. The store will include entry and exit monitoring, an electronic price list, self-service cash desks for payment cards and a virtual assistant which will answer customers’ questions while they are shopping, Gregorc added.
