Hystead has officially opened the Mall of Sofia’s 12,000 sqm extension, which will house 40 new retailers. The mall now features 222 stores on 62,000 sqm, making it the second biggest shopping center in Bulgaria. The expanded part of the property includes a 2,500 sqm Billa supermarket, Hippoland (1,250 sqm), JYSK (1,200 sqm), Sinsay (900 sqm) Pepco (540 sqm) and Ciela (285 sqm). DSK Bank financed the expansion.
“The completion and the successful opening of the mall extension in Sofia is another important milestone for Hystead and demonstrates its ability to execute its investment strategy to focus on fewer but higher-quality large dominant shopping centers which deliver sustainable returns for investors through income growth in emerging markets where assets can be acquired or developed at attractive yields,” said Morné Wilken, CEO of Hyprop, Hystead’s parent company.
