Lidl breaks ground on Riga logistics center

Construction has begun on Lidl's €55m logistics center in Riga. The foundation was laid for the facility in a ceremony attended by Latvian Economics Minister Arvils Ašeradens and Riga Mayor Nils Ušakovs. When complete, the 47,000 sqm building, located on Ulbrokas street, will become one of the most advanced logistics center in the Baltics. Construction on the site will be undertaken by SIA Merks, part of the Estonian firm AS Merko Ehitus. The cost of construction will be €42.5m, with a further €15m expected to be spent on equipment. The logistics center is set for completion in 2020.
