Krones has opened a plant in Debrecen, eastern Hungary, following a HUF 15bn investment. This is the German packaging and bottling machine manufacturer’s first European factory outside of its home market. The 40,000 sqm facility is located at Industrial Park South, near the airport. Construction took a little over a year to complete. The Hungarian government supported the project with a HUF 5.5bn grant. The company is planning to hire 500 people to work at the site. Between 2014 and 2019, seven German companies have made investments in the city.
