Kaufland, Auchan to open stores in northern Bucharest

Kaufland and Auchan are preparing to enter the northern Bucharest market. Kaufland bought a 20,000 sqm plot of land to build a new hypermarket from Primavera Development. Auchan, meanwhile, is set to start building a new store on Gh. Ionescu Sisesti street. The area started becoming more attractive to developers two years ago, when Ikea's real estate division, Vastint, bought 48 ha of land, where it plans to build 10,000 homes.
