John Lewis has opened two new distribution centers at Magna Park in Milton Keynes in an effort to keep up with increased delivery demand. The GBP 150m investment into the two distribution facilities is part of John Lewis’ five-year GBP 500m investment plan, with half of the money going into distribution sites. The retailer intends to create 500 new jobs to staff the new centers, with the number expected to double during peak periods. John Lewis has pledged to become more environmentally friendly by merging fashion and non-fashion items into one delivery, which it believes will reduce up to 850,000 parcel deliveries each year.
