Production began today at the new Jaguar Land Rover factory in Nitra, Slovakia. In addition to the €129m in state subsidies it received, the company invested €1.4bn into the factory which currently employs 1,500 people. That figure is expected to rise to 2,800 by the end of the year, according to spokesman Alexander Worthberg. The new facility should be capable of turning out up to 150,000 automobiles annually. The company is paying its employees between €1,000 and €1,774 per month.
