The Jacksonville Transportation Authority has started construction of the $57 million Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center in LaVilla. The new transportation hub facility will provide a single location for various bus lines, including the First Coast Flyer bus system, Skyway and Greyhound (along with other intercity carriers) along with future Amtrak and commuter rail stations. The facility will be built in two phases, with the 100,000 sqf Intercity Bus Terminal now underway. Slated for completion by January 2018, the building will provide space for ticketing offices, a cafeteria, and nine bus bays. The second phase will consists of an administration building, including an enclosed passenger waiting area, ticket vending machines, operator lounge, and customer service. Work on the second phase should wrap up in late 2019. Funding for the project will come from a combination of federal, state and local funds.
