IMF raises GDP forecast for Hungary

The International Monetary Fund raised the forecast for GDP growth in Hungary in 2019. It's predicting 3.6 percent growth for this year, up from its October forecast of just 3.3 percent. Its prognosis is slightly less ambitious than that of the Hungarian government, which anticipates 3.9 percent growth. In 2020, the IMF sees slower growth for the country of 2.7 percent. On the inflation front, the IMF expects prices to rise 3.2 percent this year and that this will dip only slightly to 3.1 percent in 2020. In 2019, moreover, it sees unemployment dropping to 3.5 percent and subsiding still further in 2020 to 3.4 percent.
