Bratislava's winter sports stadium will require €2m worth of repairs if it's to be able to hold the 2019 World Ice Hockey Championships. That's the verdict that was communicated to the city council yesterday. It's less than the €5m that some (including Bratislava's mayor Ivo Nesrovnal) had feared, but it's unclear at this point who will come up with the money to allow the work to go ahead. Along with new seats a new scoreboard and a new ice resurfacer will have to be procured. The issue is complicated by the fact that the city has yet to pay off previous reconstruction work carried out on the stadium. Mayor Nesrovnal intends to hold talks with Slovakia's Ice Hockey Federation on the matter. The stadium was originally reconstructed at a cost of €70m in 2011.
