Hystead acquired the hypermarket premises connected to The Mall in Sofia. The price of the deal was €23m. French retailer Carrefour was the former occupant of the 2,450 sqm space. The premises will be refurbished and better integrated with the shopping center. Upgrades are expected to take six months. Billa Bulgaria, part of German REWE Group, has already agreed to take the space. Hystead Limited is 60 percent owned by South African real estate investment trust Hyprop Investment. In October 2017, Hystead acquired Bulgaria’s AP Retail I for €155m and became the owner of The Mall. The shopping center offers 51,200 sqm of retail space.
