The Hungarian construction sector grew 20.3 percent y-o-y in June, according to data published by the Central Statistical Office. Building output was up 23.5 percent, driven by industrial and warehouse projects. Civil engineering output, meanwhile, increased by 16.3 percent, thanks to new roadway, railway and utility projects. Construction growth was up 35.1 percent y-o-y between January and June. The trend, however, is not expected to continue. László Koji, head of the National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors (ÉVOSZ), said that he expects the sector will slow down in the second half of the year, partly due to the high base.
