About 9,000 residents of the Netherlands reported that they could not afford to pay rent according to a study of 197 housing corporations, which own about 1.6 million of the 2.4 million rental homes in the Netherlands. The number is expected to increase. Most of the tenants were still collecting a salary in March, but it's certain that unemployment numbers will have increased since then. Housing corporations believe that while the restrictions connected with coronavirus containment are still in force, the problems with payment will continue.
