The Greek government has directed parliament to approve proposals to increase the budget by €5bn to fund its economic support measures for businesses and citizens affected by the virus coronary pandemic. The Budget Act it's proposed would bolster economic measures already enacted to limit economic and social damage many fear now threatens. The country's fiscal council approved the aid package, which Greece will have to find financing for, as its own resources are already too stretched to cover it. The EU has allowed Member States to exceed the usual budget deficit regulations in order to support their national health systems and to deploy all necessary resources into the "war" against the pandemic.
