The energy GEN-I Group went into the coronavirus crisis with a low level of debt and a diversified portfolio, allowing it to finish the first half of 2020 with an EBIT of €11.1 million. It also issued €25 million in bonds in an offering that was oversubscribed. By the end of June, the company had sold 65 TWh of electricity and gas, both through physical and financial contracts, representing almost 80 percent of its sales for all of 2019.

It also had substantial success with its investment into solar energy, having installed solar power plants in 90 percent of all Slovenian municipalities. This has enabled the company to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions it emits by more than 6,700 tons from January 2017 to March 2020.
