Ford has announced its plans to expand its current capacity in Romania. The car producer plans to invest about €200m in expanding its plant in Craiova where it will be assembling its EcoSport small SUV model. The SUV is now produced in India, but the US company will move its production to Craiova starting in the second half of 2017.

“Craiova has a bright future if it continues to improve its competitiveness and operational flexibility. The recent successful agreement on a two-year labor contract was a very positive step,” said Ford Europe’s president and CEO Jim Farley. Ford entered Craiova in 2008 with the acquisition of 72.4 percent of Automobile Craiova.
