By the end of this week, Suncani Hvar will open Palace Elisabeth, the first five-star hotel on the Croatian island of Hvar. An existing hotel has undergone a major reconstruction, to be replaced by a new one that incorporates a wide range of historic and archaeological artifacts. The €13.5m reconstruction took two years to complete. Because of its location in the center of Hvar, the historic building has long served as a symbol of the city. Palace Elisabeth will be included in The Leading Hotels of the World network, offering 45 rooms and suites that were designed by the architect Oto Blaha. It offers an indoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness center along with a restaurant. The hotel's garden was designed by the Vienna-based architect Bernard Schwarz.
